It seems I made a mistake in joining Wikipedia. I thought the goal was to build a factual encyclopedia, but apparently the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. All you have to do is provide a working link to prove that somebody, somewhere, said whatever it is you want to add, whether or not the thing they said is actually true. If ever there were a recipe for disaster, that policy must be one of the main ingredients.

I think I'll join Wikiquote instead. It may not claim to be an encyclopedia, but at least it demands that its content be factual.
