Stephanie Bryan is Tribal Chair and CEO of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians located in Atmore, Alabama.[1] Stephanie has held this position since June of 2014. In this role, she is responsible for oversight of operations including tribal government, Poarch Creek Indians Gaming Authority (PCIGA), as well as all aspects of education and housing.[2] She is the first female to hold this position since August 11th, 1984 when the tribe was officially recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.[3]
Biography
[edit]As a lifelong member of the Poarch community, Chairwoman Bryan sprang from humble beginnings and held a variety of different roles within the community prior to ascending to the chief executive position of the Poarch community.[4] Among her main initiatives for her constituents is expanded educational opportunities, and universal healthcare among the tribe.[5]
