My name is Jordan Barria-Pineda. I am a Ph.D. student at the School of Information Sciences at University of Pittsburgh. I got a Computer Engineering degree from the Austral University of Chile, place where I worked teaching an Introductory Programming Course for one semester in 2015.
I am highly interested in building intelligent user interfaces which can motivate students to engage in self-regulated learning and collaborative learning activities. In specific, my current research focuses is exploring how the combination of information visualization techniques and students' activity data processing can help to develop tools which facilitate their navigation through the learning content based on the awareness about their own learning progress and their peers' learning behavior.
I was born and raised in Valdivia, Chile. I love to travel and discover new places; so far I have visited Argentina, the United States, Canada and (obviously) Chile.
