Erica Andrews

Janet, I saw that you had entered Erica Andrews' birth date. Can you cite a source or verify that this is the correct birth date? There were previous entries that were dubious, citing from bad sources on when she was born. If there are no sources for the birth date, did you know it from personal knowledge, i.e. friendship with her? Please reply about this because Erica's birth may have to be removed if there are no verifiable sources. None of the published obituaries on Erica have listed her date of birth. At a candlelight vigil held in Erica's honor in San Antonio on March 28, 2013, Kourtney Devereaux, who was connected to Erica personally, referenced Erica's birthdate in her eulogy. It was announced that the event was videotaped and that it would be made available, although no details were given as to where. JanetWand (talk) 20:55, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Although I had always known 1 article mentioned Erica passed away in Chicago, IL, it still needs to be fact checked as the article may not have done their own fact checking. Unfortunately, there are many articles about Erica that aren't well written and is quite obvious the authors did not fact check. For example one article has said Erica died from lung cancer when she did not die from the cause. In fact the obituary on Erica by the San Antonio News Express did not even spell her real last name correctly nor list her location of death or cause. Erica resided in Terre Haute, IN, not Chicago, IL as was often colloquially repeated. When she was alive, it was always said she lived in Chicago, IL but she did not. There is a possibility she did not pass away in Chicago, IL but in Terre Haute, IN or in the vicinity of Terre Haute. Terre Haute, IN is quite a distance from Chicago, IL. Almost 180 miles in distance. This is one reason why I did not list her location of death as Chicago, IL as I was hoping those close to her could share this detail or at least another better publication source could reveal the exact details of where she died. If you do know of someone who knows of this detail, as opposed to hearsay or articles repeating stuff that isn't fact checked, that would be great. Since this is an encyclopedic entry about Erica, we need to make sure everything is factual and do our own research for fact-checking. We should not publish anything that is not a fact. I had a conversation tonight with an extremely close friend of Erica's. He confirmed for me that Erica did pass away in Chicago, IL. He knew I have been intensely working on this Wikipedia article on Erica and understood my intention to fact check. He also confirmed for me that unlike what is published in many newspapers, Erica did not reside in Terre Haute, IN but in Munster, IN which is 30+ miles from Chicago. This info itself proves that info in newspapers cannot be depended on entirely. I told him that so many articles on Erica over the years are poorly written by authors who have not done their fact-checking. Given this cross check with a source who had detailed inside info, I will update Erica's place of death to Chicago, IL. I have been working very hard to find the 3 Maury Povich episodes that Erica appeared on. I have located 2. I can't find the 3rd. Out of these 2, I can confirm of only 1 of its original air date and actual episode name. I have inserted this info in the data table on Erica's page. If you can help me locate the info on the other 2, that would be very helpful. If you do find the info, please post on my talk page and I'll cross check to make sure we have the facts down. Thank you very much for helping with this article. I am very meticulous about fact-checking on info regarding Erica because I respected her tremendously and want for her legacy to be remembered properly instead of with hearsay and rumors. Here is information I intend to publish on Erica's page. There has been an edit war between me and a couple of editors about this fact. They claimed citation of MySpace was not allowed when Wikipedia's citation rules clearly allow it. See: Self-published or questionable sources as sources on themselves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published_or_questionable_sources_as_sources_on_themselves). I feel that this information is very pertinent as it gives background context to Erica's show in San Antonio. It allows a reader to understand how the show originated. She had hosted her own show on Thursday evenings at the Heat Nightclub and later at the Pegasus Nightclub in San Antonio called Thirsty Thursdays Trashy Trannies with Erica Andrews (aka Tandi's T.E.A.) which began on February 19, 2008. Andrews had carried on the tradition of the Thursday evening show from Tandi Andrews. In 1990, Tandi Andrews teamed up with Erica Andrews and Ariel Andrews (Tandi's other drag daughter and Erica's drag sister) and jointly held a Thursday evening show at a nightclub in San Antonio. At the time, their Thursday evening show was called Tandi's T.E.A. The T.E.A. stood for Tandi, Erica and Ariel.

I argue that this information gives tremendous context as to how the Thursday evening show at the Heat (and later at the Pegasus) came about. It also frames the context to Erica's relationship with Tandi Andrews and Ariel Andrews. The information has significance to the overall article and information about Erica Andrews. I agree that it was important and that it should be included. I will certainly defend the inclusion of the Thursday shows, as I also feel they were integral. If we could find a source that this opposition would accept, what would it be? I'm sure there must have been newspaper articles, perhaps in The Current? Either way, I agree that wikipedia's rules do allow sources like myspace, as you said in a discussion, as long as they are not the only sources. JanetWand (talk) 16:21, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Janet, I'm absolutely baffled by the various edits and accusations thrown at this particular credit. I am not Todd Baker, and in fact I have contributed to several entries for other graduates of SUNY Purchase. In this particular case, you state that Todd Baker is not noteworthy. With all due respect, I counter that Todd is actually one of our more notable alumni. He currently produces one of the most successful shows in the history of broadcast entertainment (The Howard Stern Show). Further, he created the first all-female formula race team. He has other notable credits and was also instrumental in creating the east coast branch of The Producers Guild of America. Several independent sources have been given for this. Further, as you are no doubt concerned with authenticity, you can also do research on this individual to find more sourcing.
