James (Edward) Clarke BA, MMus
Specialising in aesthetics, orchestration & audio production, James studied music at Bristol University achieving a first-class honours music degree and a masters in film/TV composition. It was there that he had his first symphonic work Eleutherios performed along with numerous orchestral works involving various electroacoustic techniques. James then located to Denmark for 2 years and worked with Alphabeat, Lazyboy and Junior Senior at Delta Lab Studios before returning to the UK. He is renowned to be able to work in several genres from classical, to rock, to dub-step!
James has managed the recording studios at Tŷ Cerdd in the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff since he established them in 2004. He has produced and engineered for Welsh National opera, BBC NOW, Sony, Bryn Terfel & Katherine Jenkins and in 2010 was commissioned by the Welsh National Opera to compose a children’s opera called Billy & The Dragon. He also co-wrote, produced and performed Carbon Soldier which was commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government as part of their climate change awareness campaign. James has engineered and produced for Carleen Anderson, Iwan Rheon, Pete Lawrie (Island), Judith Weir (Master of the Queen's Music), Llyr Williams, Joseph George (Tomato Wine) and Jem (ATO, Sony BMG, RCA) and has regularly worked in Santa Monica, LA, as a producer, writer, arranger and engineer. He is a percussionist, pianist, guitarist and singer.
