Local elections were held in Majayjay, Laguna on Monday, May 11, 1992 within the Philippine general election. The voters elected the elective local posts in the municipality: the mayor, vice mayor, and eight councilors.[1]

Background

Incumbent Mayor Ruben Guera is running for re-election, he is running under LDP, he is facing again former Mayor Leon Sobreviñas, who is running under the banner of Lakas–NUCD.

Incumbent Vice Mayor Diego Andaya is also running for re-election, he is running under LDP, his main opponent is Froilan Gruezo, who is the opposition (Lakas–NUCD) nominee. Angeles Divina is also running under PRP.

Coalition

As the mayor, vice mayor and the members of the municipal council are elected on the same ballot, mayoral candidates may present or endorse a slate of candidates. These slates usually run with their respective mayoral and vice mayoral candidates along with the other members of their slate. A group of candidates independent of any mayoral or vice mayoral candidate may also form a slate consisting of themselves.

Sangguniang Bayan election

Election is via plurality-at-large voting: A voter votes for up to eight candidates, then the eight candidates with the highest number of votes are elected.

Only four out of eight incumbent councilor's who seek re-election won.
