[edit]- It is by no means necessary, but helpful to create a user account. This allows you to watch articles that you are interested in.
- If you have questions, a number of venues may help you:
- Wikipedia:Help desk is a highly frequented page for general questions.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics is the mathematics portal. Its talk page Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics is there for specific questions on formatting questions. In the rare event of some trouble with another editor (e.g. someone repeatedly reverting your edits), also turn there.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics/Editor resources is an introduction similar to this one here.
- Other editors are also willing to help out, e.g. contact me.
- If you don't know what to edit, but you still want to help: Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics/Wikipedia 1.0 leads you to articles in your favorite area, sortable by importance and/or current article quality.
- If you already know all of this, consider working on some article more seriously:
- WP:Peer review will help you find someone who reviews your work and suggests improvements etc.
- Good articles are ones that have been acknowledged (by at least one editor) as an essentially complete and well-written article.
- WP:Featured articles are even better: they have received a detailed check, should be compellingly written etc.
