The Ghost of Bishop Brown is a ghost that has been a resident to Galion for many years. The ghost of the late Bishop William Montgomery Brown is the specter that watches has watched over his home for nearly a century.

The Ghost of Bishop Brown is a ghost in Galion, Ohio that haunts Brownella Cottage and Grace Episcopal Church. William Montgomery Brown was a Bishop of the Episcopal Church. Brown, also known as Bad Bishop Brown, was the first religious leader to be convicted of heresy since the time of the reformation. Brown was also the first religious later of any creed to be removed from his position as a result of the accusation since the reformation.[1] Ever since his death in 1937 the people of Galion have been reporting strange activity as well as sightings of spirits on the property. It has been said that every Halloween night one can see the ghost of the Bishop walking the glass-causeway between the House and the study. The ghost of Bishop Brown has been seen through the halls of Brownella Cottage by many.

Brownella Cottage itself the house that Bishop Brown had built (1885-1887) for himself and his wife Ella Scranton Brown. This location is owned and preserved by the Galion Historical Society, the property itself has been thought to contain at least one spirit since the death of Bad Bishop Brown [2]. The building has has had many visitors interested in the ghost that inhabits the building. The Study of Brownella was also the original Catholic Church in Galion [3].

Ghost Tours of Brownella and EVP

Ghost Tours are now offered in Galion by Dr. John Gruber. Tours are offered upon request as well as certain dates. People on the tour receive K-2 (device) to pick up Electronic voice phenomenon and spectral energy. The two hour long tours usually have various inexplicable events that vary for each tour. Recordings from the K-2 are then sent to the University of Southern California for decoding, all tourists receive decoded sound files in the mail several weeks later. Various conversations between the Bishop and Dr. Gruber have been recorded and written down those can be found in his book. [4]
