Introduction

My interests on Wikipedia are education, education reform, mathematics, physics, feminism, music, writing, science fiction and fantasy, dancing, and media. And anything else that captures my interest. I have a doctorate in theoretical chemical physics from Harvard University, a masters in physics from Harvard, and a BS with Highest Honors in Chemistry from UCLA. Before I retired, my research involved applying the methods of mathematical physics to physical problems. I also ran the Chesapeake Math Program for several decades. I've published scientific papers in various peer-reviewed journals, presented papers at various conferences. I also write science fiction (but please see note below; this page is only for my work as a Wiki editor) and I've been a Guest of Honor at various science fiction conventions in the US and abroad.

I do work for Wikipedia for two reasons:

1) I enjoy it.

2) It's my way of donating to the encyclopedia, which I consider one of the most valuable resources online. Please note that as a matter of principle, I never take pay for any work on Wikipedia.

Johanson Analysis

Finally! I started writing this article a few years ago. I had to leave it for a while when Life Happened, but I was able to get back to it in the past week. I finally finished it. The page is now up at Johanson analysis. My thanks to Grand'mere Eugene for helping me to get the final draft Wikipedia ready. I've had it in front of me on my computer, patiently waiting, for several years. Now it's done!

Potential CoIs

One of the articles I am working on is the John F. Kennedy High School (Richmond, California) entry. Because I am also listed as a notable alumni on that page, I realize this constitutes a conflict of interest. I recognize that a COI may involve sub-conscious or unintentional advocacy; I welcome review of this article by other editors and related conversations on the articles' talk pages.

I should also note that other editors on Wikipedia have created a page for me at Catherine Asaro. In general, I do not edit that page. In the recent discussion, I added two requested references, but I would prefer not to be the one to do this, which is why I asked an outside editor to take over that discussion. I respect the Wiki guidelines for what is recommended for the subjects of a Wikipedia article.

I would like to stress that when I am wearing my hat as a Wikipedia editor, any talk on my page here should be confined to my activities as an editor. If my readers have comments in regards to my work as an author, I ask that they use forums more appropriate to those topics. I thank you for your interest in my work and please know that I greatly value it, but Wikipedia is not the place to show that interest.
