2020health is an independent, social enterprise think tank[1] based in London. It was formed at the end of 2006 by Julia Manning[2]. 2020health is a registered not for profit organisation[3]. Funding comes through unrestricted educational grants, foundations and membership. The think tank is governed by a Board of Directors. There are no donors on the Board. 2020health are partners AXA PPP Healthcare's 'Health Tech & You' Awards[4]. 2020health follows the principles of the Mindful Employer Charter[5], supports the Caring Economy Campaign[6] run by the Centre for Partnership Studies and has a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Salford[7].
History & Structure
[edit]Julia Manning is the founder and Chief Executive of 2020health. Julia studied visual science at City University and became a member of the College of Optometrists in 1991. She has been a visiting lecturer at City University, a visiting clinician at the Royal Free Hospital, worked with south London Primary Care Trusts and as a Director of the UK Institute of Optometry. She specialised in diabetes and ran a home and prison visiting practice for people with mental and physical disabilities using the latest digital technology. Julia is a regular guest on TV and radio shows such as BBC News, ITV’s Daybreak/ GMB, Channel 5 News, BBC 1′s The Big Questions, BBC Radio, LBC and has taken part in debates and contributed to BBC’s Newsnight, Panorama, You and Yours and ITV’s The Week. Julia is an honorary research associate at UCL[8], a Fellow of the RSA[9] and a member of the Natonal Health Executive Editorial Board[10].
