Farm Fresh Rhode Island, also known as Farm Fresh RI, was founded in 2004; it's work is based on a Brown University student project. The organization incorporated in 2006 and became a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2007.
Farm Fresh RI organizes and advertises farmers' markets across Rhode Island including large markets in Blackstone Park Historic District in Providence, Rhode Island, Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Farm Fresh RI also offers a culinary training program for youth assisted by Rhode Island DCYF, a nutritional education course, and a food distribution center.[1] Farm Fresh RI plans to open a Rhode Island Food Hub in Providence, Rhode Island and has been given 2.2 million dollars in tax breaks from the state of Rhode Island to build the space.[2][3]
