Vaucresson is a French commune, located in the department of Hauts-de-Seine, in the French region Ile-de-France.

Located in Hauts-de-Seine 7 kilometers west of Paris (Porte de Saint-Cloud), midway between Versailles and Saint-Cloud, deserves Vaucresson its name of "green city": indeed, an area of ​​308 hectares, 22 hectares are classified as natural area and recreation area in 85. More than 30 hectares are protected as "woodlands classified."

Etymology

Its origin is certified under the Latinized form Crisonis Valle from 1145, when under the leadership of a prominent figure both minister and priest top of the abbey of Saint-Denis, the abbot Suger wanting to secure the area that was infested with brigands, made clear the surrounding land by monks. They built a church and a house. Thanks to the many incentives, nearly sixty people settled on these lands in the first year.

In 2009, Vaucresson had 8618 people (an increase of 6.0% from 1999). The town held the 1,089e rank nationally, while she was at 1097e in 1999, and the 35e at the departmental level of 36 municipalities.

Changes in the number of inhabitants is known throughout the population censuses conducted since 1793 in Vaucresson. The maximum population was reached in 1975 with 9257 inhabitants.

  • 48% of men (0-14 years = 23.4%, from 15 to 29 years = 15%, 30 to 44 years = 21.4%, from 45 to 59 years = 20.8%, over 60 years = 19.2%);
  • 52% of women (0-14 years = 20.5%, from 15 to 29 years = 14.6%, from 30 to 44 years = 21.4%, from 45 to 59 years = 20.7%, over 60 years = 22.9%).

The department manages a College and the region Ile-de-France x schools. A private secondary school is located in the town.

Since January 2010, the town of Vaucresson Deanery is part of the Hills, one of nine deaneries of Diocese of Nanterre [1].

Within this deanery, both Catholic places of worship are the Church of St. Denys and the Chapel of St. Helena that are within the parish St. Denys [2][3].

Church built in the mid-12th century on the orders of Abbot Suger. Tower restored in 1460 by order of Nicolas Dugue, first lord of Vaucresson. Church rebuilt in 1694 by Liberal Bruant, architect and Geoffrey Maillard, mason. Demolished and rebuilt in 1770. Various restorations in the 19th century. Removal of the porch and the facade was modified in 1904. Demolished and rebuilt in 1964 by architect Kindermans. Only the bell tower of the 12th century has resisted numerous reconstructions
