Eastern Connecticut is a unofficial region in Connecticut. It is usually defined as the area east of the Connecticut River in the state.[1] Currently, the full counties of Windham, New London, and Tolland. It also contains parts of Hartford and Middlesex counties. The population of the area is 801,423, but with the added areas, can be as high as 827,226, or about 23.14% of the state population.[2]
Area
[edit]This region is famous for Mystic, a large tourism spot in the state.[3] The area is mostly suburban on the western side, with a more rural characteristic on the interior, and eastern side, near the Rhode Island border.[4] A large chunk of the area is part of Greater Hartford.[5] Many towns have a town green still in them, common also in other New England states.[6]
