Psychic Impressionism is the painting style created by American artist James Paul Kocsis (1936-2021).[1] The style, which often was marked by thick, highly expressive brushstrokes of brilliantly colored paints, shared some of the techniques popularized by the neo-expressionist movement in late 20th century American painting.[2][3] Psychic Impressionism is exemplified by Kocsis’s 1970 painting Igneous Man (oil on linen, 51x37-1/2).
