The article seems to mention the differences of each gender and the construction of it (how it has come to be). The article briefly mentions how we can undoing the term gender is possible because we created gender. The thing is there are difference between men and women but that dosen't mean women want to be like men, many just want equal treatment compared to the man. The article mentions a lot about how women are the main ones that are affected by gender discrimination but mean are also affected by gender. Men are often told to "man up" and not show emotion because its makes them seem as weak. Reading the article "Social construction of gender" I would like to add a little bit of history that has to do with gender construction. I am currently taking a class ,History 110A, where we are learning about women how contrary to our belief they were considered above men. Many people believe that ever since humanity began women were considered above men. Women were the gathers of fruits, herbs ,and nuts and men were the hunters. Contrary to our belief were the hunters for meat not because they were thought to strong, fit and quick but because women were at the ones that gave birth. Women were also the first leaders. There is evidence in the fact that cave drawing were often of women. When reading about the topic of Gender based- harassment I didn't like the part about how they mention how the male often harasses the female because of appearance. I don't think that topic relates to my personal opinion because it deepens on how the person was raised and is. If either the male or female were brought up to be respectful people they would not harass anyone, it won't have to do with gender. From reading the full article onwikipedia most of the differences between Male and female are "obvious " during high school. But one for sure I would like to add on would be the history of gender.
The article is long compared to other and while reading it I found some information that in my perspective is useless. The article is a little complex to understand because it has many terms and concepts that are difficult to understand by just solely on the article. Some of the article retrenched are outdated because they referenced the 1990's which was over 20 years and a loot has changed since then. A lot of the social construction that is mentioned in the article has to do with appearances. But nowadays there are people who are trans, they are "female in the outside but male in the inside. " Transgendered female/ male break down the social construction of gender bringing in questions of what it is to be male\female. History plays and huge part of the construction because if we accurately date it back it has changed over time. The article does seem a little biased towards females and the difficulties they got through because it may seem that they are the main victims of social construction. I will need tget a lot of accurate and detailed information to add on the page.
