Borofutus
Borofutus Hosen & Zhu L. Yang is a genus of fungi in the family Boletaceae. The genus has a restricted distribution and only found in tropical region in Bangladesh.[1] The genus was first reported from Bangladesh in 2012.
Etymology: Borofutus is from Bengali language, where"boro" means large and "futo" means pore, referring to the broad pores of the hymenophore.
Description of the genus
According to Hosen's definition of the genus, species of Borofutus usually grows on soil under the monodominat stands of Shorea robusta of the plant family Dipterocarpaceae. The basidiomata epigeous, stipitate-pileate with tubular hymenophore. The pileus covered with squamules. Hymenophore subdecurrent, broadly tubular; pores up to 2–6 mm wide. Stipe central, covered with squamules but apical part glabrous. Context pallid to light yellowish. Basidiospores purple to purplish red in H2O, purplish violet in KOH, boletoid to somewhat amygdaliform, slightly thick-walled; minutely verrucose under light microscope but conspicuous pits under SEM. Hymenial cystidia lageniform, thick-walled. Pileipellis a trichoderm. Clamp connections absent.
