On this experimental page I am trying out an idea for a vast table of the life taxonomy, following the three-domain system of Carl Woese and with data from Wikispecies. Obviously, the amount of data is vast, and extracting it would have to be automated. The present population of the table is just a sample to give me the idea what it might look like. I need to find out what the Wikispecies people have for this already, but so far I haven't found an inclusive table or other page that gives an overview in one go of the vast scale, and the relative positions of the various branches of the tree of life. There are other scientific and educational websites unrelated to Wiki dedicated to the subject also and there is no point reinventing the wheel. However as a retired technical communicator I thought a dummy run to see what might be possible was worth a limited trial.
