Liu Yangyang (English: Liu Yang-Yang; Korean: 유양양; Chinese: 刘扬扬) is a Taiwanese singer, rapper, and dancer, known by his stage name YangYang (Korean: 양양; Chinese: 扬扬)). He was born in New Taipei, Taiwan and is a member of the South Korean boy groups NCT and subunit WayV, under SM Entertainment.

He officially debuted as a member of WayV in January 2019 as the main rapper and sub-vocalist.

In September 2020, he joined the group NCT with NCT's second full-length album, Resonance.

Early Life

Liu Yangyang was born on October 10, 2000, in New Taipei, Taiwan. He moved to Germany with his family when he was in school and lived there for a few years.

In February 2016, he became an SM Entertainment trainee through the global auditions held in Taipei.

On July 17, 2018, he was introduced as a member of SM ROOKIES and revealed his stage name YangYang.

2019–Present: Debut with WayV and NCT

On December 31, 2018, SM Entertainment announced the first group image teasers of WayV, the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, in which YangYang was introduced as one of the seven members. According to SM Entertainment, WayV is primarily produced by SM Entertainment and collaborates with the Chinese label Label V for local promotions. The members also have the opportunity to engage in activities outside of China as NCT members.[1].

On January 17, 2019, WayV released their debut digital EP, "The Vision," marking YangYang's official debut in China.

On February 19, 2020, he participated as a featuring artist on the title track "Asteroid"[2] from SM Entertainment's DJ and producer IMLAY's third EP, "DYSTOPIA."[3].

On September 21, 2020, NCT announced the NCT 2020 project and the third sub-unit NCT U as part of the project, with YangYang participating as a member of NCT U's third sub-unit. They released the song "90's Love" as part of this project.[4].

On February 16, 2021, YangYang participated in the official program "CONCEPT KOREA F/W 2021" at the 2021 New York Fashion Week, walking the runway for the designer brand JARRET.[5]. On August 17, 2021, he formed the second sub-unit of WayV, "WayV-TEN&YANGYANG," with fellow member Ten and released the digital single "Low Low."[6].
