FFZ - Free Fire Zone is a tabletop wargaming event organized at various places in Hungary since 2004. The event is unique because of its general attitude to emphasize on having fun, playing and making new friends during the whole weekend. It is considered more important to attend an FFZ than actually winning it!
FFZ was named after the Sodom (band) song M-16 (album) and refers to the U.S. military definition of Free-fire zone FCM. During the event a competition is held in two categories: Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Players have to fight a set of missions with their armies. They are actually fighting on tables next to each other.

History
[edit]The first FFZ was held in 2004 during a convention named Dungeons & Dreadnoughts in Bábolna. After the success of the first event, the basic distinguishing mark were already in place:
- FFZ must be fought by miniatures and beer!
- it must be a weekend-long event from friday evening to sunday afternoon;
- we must have a lot of fun;
- the events must not be organized in Budapest!
