The additional round, known as the Wild Card Series, consists of several three game sets, with the higher seed hosting all three games in each set. In the 2 vs. 7 and 3 vs. 6 matchups, the 6 and 7 seeds must sweep all three games in order to advance, while the 2 and 3 seeds need only win one of three games in order to advance. The 4 vs. 5 matchup is a traditional best-of-three set, with the first team to win two games advancing. The remainder of the postseason proceeds as normal.
