Welcome Everyone!
[edit]If you've taken the time to come to my page, you might want to know a little bit about me! For starters, my name is Maggie, and I'm a sophomore in high school.
Hobbies and Interests
[edit]I play soccer competitively and for my school team while also trying to balance my classes and time with friends! When I'm not busy with rigorous schoolwork and extracurricular activities, I like to go to the beach, hang out with friends, shop, and listen to music. I also like to travel a lot, as I have lived overseas for 5 years of my life. Living in Okinawa, Japan was a great experience. Before Japan I lived in California, Florida, and now I live in North Carolina. My favorite subjects in school are English, science, and Spanish. Although I don't dislike school, summer is my favorite season. I can't stand cold weather, so winter is my least favorite time of the year.
My Future
[edit]After graduating with my class of 2014, I aspire to go on to attend UNC Chapel Hill, Florida State, or UCLA. I'm not sure what I'd like to major in yet, but after getting a degree from one of those colleges, I'd like to go on to law or medical school to become a lawyer or some kind of doctor. I love arguing, which is where my ambition to become a lawyer partially comes from. Blood makes me squeamish, but my mother is a biology major and went on to become a Navy Emergency Room doctor, and I really look up to her. It'd be great to follow in her footsteps of helping people, even if I was to become a radiologist, pediatrician, or something else medically-related that doesn't require gruesome cases like in the ER or ICU.
Why Wikipedia?
[edit]If you've even bothered to continue reading all of this, by now, you're probably wondering about my reason behind creating this account. I'm in user:JimmyButler's AP Biology class at my high school and in this class, each student works on a year-long project called the Wikipedia:WikiProject AP Biology 2011. This experience helps us utilize Wikipedia and learn more about technology at the same time. I don't know much about formatting and all the fancy programming stuff within editing Wikipedia, but hopefully I can get some help along the way from those of you in the Wiki Community who are more knowledgeable! I'd greatly appreciate any assistance, as I'm sure it'll help my grade. So please, please, PLEASE lend me a helping hand whenever you get the chance! Whatever suggestions or changes you make will be taken maturely, I can assure you. Many teachers have told me that Wikipedia is not a viable source of information since anyone can edit the articles, but hopefully by becoming a part of the Wiki Community I can prove them wrong with personal accounts of having false information changed and such. Feel free to correct me when I'm wrong, or drop me a note on my talk page. Thanks!
