Luke Stone is an American meteorologist, entrepreneur, and snowboarder known for his expertise in snow forecasting and mountain weather. Stone runs several ventures under the brand "ImLukeSnow," including the Powder Kings Concierge, the How to Chase Powder Course, and The Luke Snow Report, which provides snow forecasts and resort guides for ski resorts across North America. His work focuses on helping skiers and snowboarders optimize their experiences by predicting snow conditions and offering travel advice for powder-filled trips. Stone also works as a forecaster for OpenSnow, where he writes daily snow forecasts for Washington, Europe, and South America.

Early Life and Education

Born and raised in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Stone developed an early passion for meteorology and skiing.[1] He pursued formal education in meteorology, earning a Masters in Atmospheric Science from the University of Utah. Stone's master's thesis research was published in the journal Nature, focusing on seasonal forecasting and the Atlantic-Pacific influence on western U.S. hydroclimate and water resources.[2][2] Stone combined his love for weather with snowboarding, focusing on mountain forecasting early in his career.

Career

Stone began his career providing forecasts for ski resorts in the United States and Canada before expanding his services to resorts across Europe, South America, and the world.[1] His How to Chase Powder Course teaches skiers and snowboarders how to independently forecast and chase storms.

In 2023, he introduced the Powder Kings Concierge, a premium service that helps skiers and snowboarders plan the perfect powder trip by providing forecasts, resort operation insights, travel advice, and more.

In addition to running his own ventures, Stone writes weather articles and contributes forecasts for OpenSnow, writing daily weather reports for Washington, Europe, and South America.

Personal Life

Luke Stone is an avid snowboarder who spends much of his time chasing storms across the America and the world.[3] His passion for snowboarding and weather forecasting fuels his entrepreneurial projects.[4] Stone is currently based in Salt Lake City, Utah and enjoys promoting outdoor activities, including skiing and snowboarding, to diverse audiences.
