Bio
[edit]About me
[edit]I am a student at Everett community college who lives in the state of Washington. My pathway is in philosophy, but I particularly enjoy philosophy of religion. Because of this, I like to read non-fiction books, with the exception of a few thought-provoking books portrayed in a fictional story. I have also taken up an interest in learning the Greek language lately. It is estimated that around 150,000 words in the english language have derived from the Greek language. [1]
My Wikipedia interests
[edit]If I am active on Wikipedia in the future, I will probably be researching information to use for my classes or job. Later on, I would also like to help edit pages, or maybe even create pages for philosophers and theologians that I have found helpful who are not as well known. I believe it would be profitable to make pages about these people because there is a possibility that people who stumble upon the page might be edified by it the same way I was.
Article Evaluation
[edit]I have had an interest in reformed theology and the various different books and authors for a while now. One of the authors I have read most recently, Robert Godfrey, has a Wikipedia page, and I decided to look over it. So, I visited the W. Robert Godfrey page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: it leaves out important information, it is out of date, and it lacks clear citations.
Completeness
[edit]The Wikipedia page for Robert Godfrey was not very telling of his interests in academics, only his degrees and positions held. Pages of other popular reformed writers and academics included specific interests in academics. Godfrey was a big advocate of Calvinism and many of his works reflected that viewpoint yet there was no mention of this on the page. On top of this, the article also leaves out the fact that Godfrey was a Presbyterian, one of the main distinctions in reformed theology between different viewpoints.
Out of Date
[edit]The published works section is missing some of his newest books and failed to mention some of his older books. It seems as though this page has not been updated for a couple of years because many of the books missing are from 2-4 years ago. Five of his six latest books are not listed anywhere on the page. These are all books solely written by him. There are more books that he has written a chapter or section in that are also not listed.
Citations
[edit]There are a good amount of citations on this page, but they are not cited after every specific fact. There is a section of three sentences, with over 5 facts, that is only cited at the end by one source. This is a bit confusing as I am not sure if all facts are from this citation, or only the last one stated. Additionally, the sources are not very diverse. Although there are five sources, three of them come from the same organization.
Summary
[edit]As a whole, this page is decent. There are a lot of individual facts about his career mentioned, however, the citations are not always clear. Furthermore, there is a good amount of information left out or out of date. I think a lot more effort could be put into this page to widen the scope of information it covers and to make it up to date.
