About me

[edit]

I am a freshman college student. I enjoy playing and watching softball. I started playing when I was in 4th grade and loved it since then. Team USA was the first to take the gold medal when softball made its first appearance in the Olympics in 1996[1]. I'm also interested in photography and videography and want to learn more about them. In 8th grade, I entered one of my pictures into an art festival and won first place! I also very much enjoy binge-watching shows. I am currently watching a show called Jane the virgin. I am a shopaholic, especially on Amazon.

My Wikipedia Interests

[edit]

I don't think I will be contributing to any articles on Wikipedia but if I did It would probably be about Tulalip, Washington. If not that then maybe about softball or a tv show I enjoy.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I chose to cover the article about Tulalip. I am a Tulalip tribal member and I am always interested to read and learn more about the history or just I visited the Tulalip article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: over and under-represented viewpoints, the links, and irrelevant information.

Over-represented viewpoints

[edit]

The article has two separate sections about the tribes economy. One under "Economy" and the other under "Economic development". I think that both should be combined and lose some information. The section "Economy" talks about the casinos on the reservation and once you get down to "Economic development" it repeats and also talks about the casinos. The information about the economy is over-represented and should be updated.

[edit]

As I was going through the references I found a few websites that when clicked on it says "page not found". I also found multiple websites that take you to the homepage of the website instead of where the information was found. The article should be updated with new sources that are still up and you can find the information. It should also be updated with where the information was found instead of the home pages of the websites.

Irrelevant information

[edit]

The article has a section about the tribal government. It talks about the roles that make up the administration and rules for membership in the tribe. It also lists who is currently on the tribal administration. I found that listing the people is irrelevant and it does not need to be on the Tulalip article.

Conclusion

[edit]

In conclusion, I'd say this page is okay but can be improved. Things are repeated, information needs to be moved around and updated/deleted. There also needs to be new sources because of how many links are either dead or don't take you to where the information was found. Lastly, There is irrelevant information on the article that does not need to be listed.
