About me

[edit]

I'm a Running Start/ Dual-enrollment student in the Pacific North West. I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida and recently moved to Washington. I enjoy singing, listening to music, and going out with my family! Studies show that spending time with loved ones can help reduce stress. [1] My hobbies include but are not limited to: go-kart racing, hiking, cooking, and going on dates with my boyfriend.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

I enjoy exploring the variety of the many different articles that Wikipedia has to offer. I look forward to possibly editing and completing pages related to some of my interests here on Wikipedia!

Article Evaluation

[edit]

Growing up, I was raised around reggae music, which led to my interest of this article and I would like to learn more about it using Wikipedia. I visited the ragga article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: it covers critical information, its missing a few citations, and could be expanded.

Citations

[edit]

With plenty of research through Wikipedia, I noticed how many of the music genre-related articles have lots of good information that cover their chosen topics. Occasionally, the information is either not cited properly or not cited at all. As for this article, Ragga, it is missing quite a few citations. In the lead, there is information stated that is failed to be cited, neither found in the article itself. As for the "Origin" section, there is another line of failed citation speaking of how the term "Ragga" originated.

Article Expansion

[edit]

The article seems to have the critical information it needs, but it can most definitely be expanded. Compared to many other music-related articles, this one cannot compare. It is just far too short and lacks elaboration and other information that could be useful.

Critical Information

[edit]

I know that ragga is a mixture of a few different genres that are very similar to each other and there are lots of artists in the reggae industry that make music this way. I feel like it would be nice for this article to include some more honorable mentions of how ragga is portrayed by many other artists that don't particularly focus all their music on that single genre and how it is used all around, including some sort of list of those people.

Conclusion

[edit]

Given all these points, I believe this page could be improved drastically. The information provided is barely enough to define the topic, and could use some work such as citations, expansion, and critical information. I think there should be a bit more information within this article, along with examples and elaboration to show more of what this genre is all about.
