Welcome, roadfan!
Hello, I love roads, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and ask your question there.
If you are interested, there is already a community of users who are roadfans or who edit articles about roads, just like you! Stop by any of these WikiProjects — WP:HWY (worldwide), WP:CRWP (Canada), WP:INR (India), WP:UKRD (United Kingdom), or WP:USRD (United States) — and contribute. For those in the United States, there is an excellent new user's guide. There is a wealth of information and resources for creating a great article. If you have questions about any of these WikiProjects, you can ask on each project's talk page, or you can ask me!
If you like communicating through IRC, feel free to ask questions at #wikipedia-en-roads as well. Here, there are several editors who are willing to answer your questions. For more information, see WP:HWY/IRC.
From WP:USRD
Yo, sup. :]
I see you've been editing a few articles on roads and creating some new ones. This is great, a good thing.
I'd like to mention, though, that at WP:USRD, we have a stub-reduction drive going on, and we are attempting to remove the many stub articles that the project maintains. I see you have drafts of articles in namespace, so I'd just like to suggest that they stay there until you make them Start-class or higher.
Another thing, and a minor note: The Standards for section headings wants only the first letter of the first word capitalized unless it needs to be capitalized. For route description sections, the D in description should always be lowercase. —Onore Baka Sama(speak | stalk) 01:48, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Problem edits
Hi there! Thanks for your edits. I just wanted to let you know of two problematic edits of yours that I have run into this afternoon. First of all, your edit to the talk page of Aof (band) read "Delete, unless the author can specify on the page why the band is significant." Users are welcome to contest the speedy deletion of their pages, but if they do, it does not become an Articles for Deletion discussion. The deleting admin can take any comments into consideration while deciding whether or not to speedy, but outside !votes like that do not come into play. The second edit was your speedy tagging of the Hyperactive Dance Team page. You used {{db-multiple}}, but that template should not be used without specifying a reason. If you were, say, tagging an article that didn't claim significance and was promotional, the syntax would be {{db-multiple|a7|g11}}.
Still, thank you for your edits. You seem to be new to the more maintenance side of Wikipedia (speedy tagging, problem templates, etc.) Have you considered coming to the IRC help channel? We'd be willing to help you if you're unsure about edits you're making. You can join by clicking here or joining #wikipedia-en-help from your own IRC client. Cheers! – GorillaWarfare talk • contribs 22:32, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Invitation to take part in a study
I am a Wikipedian, who is studying the phenomenon on Wikipedia. I need your help to conduct my research on about understanding "Motivation of Wikipedia contributors." I would like to invite you to Main Study. Please give me your valuable time, which estimates about 20 minutes. I chose you as a English Wikipedia user who made edits recently through the RecentChange page. Refer to the first page in the online survey form for more information on the study and me.cooldenny (talk) 01:44, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Cookies, I'll Bring the Milk
I've been a user and contributor to Wikipedia for a few years now and I must say that the pictures of cookies left on my area was the best surprise ever!. I also saw that the contribution I had made has been re-edited, thank you. If there is anything I can do please drop me a message. sa5059 (sa5059) 05:44, 24 April 2011 (CAT)
Thanks. I'll be sure to let you know. BTW, I changed my username, but it's the same account.
Speedy deletion declined: Personal internet security 2011
Hello Illogicalpie, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Personal internet security 2011, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not blatantly an attack page or negative, unsourced BLP. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 21:01, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Your edit to my talk page
Damn, I was hoping to make it to 20,000 edits before I got my first...er, I mean: Thank you very much for the barnstar. That was very kind of you. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 23:04, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
haha. I've given about 20 barnstars, but never recieved one...but I haven't done anything to warrant getting one. illogicalpie 23:11, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- And it took me until now to get the redundancy of the whole situation. Hopefully it will be a little while before someone reverts my reversion of Reversion. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 23:23, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
In that case I'd call it ironic. illogicalpie 01:50, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
