Carol "Fletcher" DeLancey (born 1967) is an American author of the Chronicles of Alsea speculative fiction series. Her first published novel was The Caphenon, released in 2015 as Book 1 of the Chronicles of Alsea. From 2016 to 2019 seven more books in the series were published. She completed the ten-volume series in 2020 when the two-volume set Alsea Rising was published.

Without a Front: The Warrior's Challenge (Chronicles of Alsea - Book #3) was awarded a Goldie by the Golden Crown Literary Society in 2016. Two of DeLancey's books, The Caphenon (Chronicles of Alsea - Book #1) in 2014 and Resilience (Chronicles of Alsea - Book 7) in 2019, have been finalists in the Lambda Literary Award LGBTQ science fiction, fantasy and horror category. The Caphenon was also an IPPY medalist.

In 2019, Fletcher DeLancey received The Alice B Readers Award for career achievement.

Career

Fletcher DeLancey's first published novel was The Caphenon, released in 2015 as Book 1 of the Chronicles of Alsea. It was a story of first contact.[1][2] The two-volume lesbian romance Without a Front[3][4] quickly followed as books two and three. From 2016 to 2019, she published five more books in the series: Catalyst, Vellmar the Blade, Outcaste[5], Resilience, and Uprising. She completed the ten-volume series with the publication of the two-volume Alsea Rising in 2020.

In addition to the Chronicles of Alsea series, she has written short stories, the novel Mac vs. PC, and the fan fiction series Past Imperfect.

Personal

Fletcher DeLancy and her wife Maria João Valente, live in the Algarve region of Portugal.

In DeLancey's official biography she offers support to the LGBT community, writing about her experience coming-out in her mid-thirties while married to a man, and offering advice for others who find themselves in similar circumstances.
