Energy
[edit]As of 2022, the energy sector of Kosovo is undergoing a significant transformation characterised by a commitment to decarbonization and sustainable development. Central to this transformation is the nation's Energy Strategy 2022-2031, which outlines the government's vision and strategic priorities for achieving a sustainable energy sector.
Kosovo's electricity generation has been predominantly reliant on coal-fired power plants, which constitute approximately 87.36% of the operational capacity. This reliance underscores the challenges associated with transitioning to a more sustainable energy model, as the remaining energy production is derived from hydroelectric sources and a limited array of renewable energy technologies, including wind and solar.
