Just under 40 km to the west of Jagdalpur is Chhattisgarh's[[1]], and India's, gorgeous waterfall at Chitrakot, on the same Indravati river[[2]]. Much like the famous Niagara Falls, Chitrakot is a mini avatar, water gushing down a hundred feet off of a horse-shoe rock formation. A popular picnic spot, the state tourism authorities also organise deluxe tented accommodation close to the foot of the waterfall, for those wishing to stay overnight at this gift of nature. There is, of course, a luxury camp site on top of the fall. Chitrakot is at the edge of the Kanger Valley National Park[[3]]. Wildlife here comprises tiger, panther, wildcat, cheetal, sambar, barking deer, sloth bear and langoor. It also has the flying squirrel, python and hyena. Chhattisgarh Tourism has made a film of the rare Hill Myna, the bird that mimics human voices.
