Article Evaluation
[edit]The article that I am evaluating is titled, "History of gunpowder", and is relevant to the course because the invention of gunpowder radically shifted the balance of power towards those who properly implemented the technology. I have found that all content within this article is relevant to the title. In terms of whether there is an evident bias in the writing, I would have to say that it rightfully focuses on Chinese experiments into the developing technology towards the beginning of the article. I can justify this as the technology did, in fact, originate from China. As a result, I don't believe Chinese influences in the development of gunpowder and subsequent firearm technologies is underrepresented or overrepresented. In terms of citations, all of the links that I have tested work and direct to a legitimate source. In contrast to source focused learning that we experience in class, Wikipedia instead presents the main ideas and claims from sources instead of forcing the reader to actively create opinions off of the source itself.
