David Roehr is an American businessman that is most notably know for his work with the outdoor outfitting company Cabelas as he served at one time as the president of the company <Forbes.com/ref>. David Roehr currently serves on various national and international board of director positions including Security First Bank, U.S. Bank of Nebraska, and Air Methods Corp <Forbes.com/ref>. David Roehr has also served in a public capacity when he was elected to the board of education for the Sidney Public Schools in Sidney, Nebraska from 2002 to 2004 <sidneypublicschools.edu/ref>. He currently works as a highly sought-after business consultant based out of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Early Life
[edit]David Roehr was born on November 25th, 1956 in Beatrice, Nebraska. David (Dave), graduated from Beatrice High School in 1974. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Nebraska in 1978. He graduated with high distinction and Dean's List honors. Dave holds a Master of Taxation degree awarded in 1980 from the University of Denver College of Law and Business Administration. It is worth noting that during shortly before his graduation from the University of Denver, Dave had already passed his examination to become a certified public accountant (C.P.A)- no small feat for the time <Forbes.com/ref>.
Career
[edit]David Roehr worked for various accounting firms in Lincoln, Nebraska until he was made a partner in the accounting firm Grant Thorton. David worked at this firm until he accepted an offer from Cabela's in 1994 <Forbes.com/ref>. He moved his family from their home in Lincoln, Nebraska to the town of Sidney, Nebraska. He started off at Cabela's as a vice president but after 8 years was awarded the title of president and chief financial officer. Under Roehr's tenure, the company of Cabela's experienced exponential growth and was finally taken public in June of 2006. Roehr is generally credited for the formation of the Cabela's credit card and the bank known as "World's Foremost Bank" that oversee's the operations of the card <Forbes.com/ref>. For his outstanding achievments in the business world, Roehr was unanimously elected into the Gage County, Nebraska hall of fame in 2007 <beatricepublicschools.edu/ref>. After a brief retirement in 2006 from Cabela's, Roehr was selected to oversee National Recreation Properties Inc., and Landauction.com based out of Irvine, California. After about a year as the president at National Recreation Proprties Inc., Roehr returned home to Lincoln, Nebraska and started his own consulting firm in 2008. In addition to his consulting business, Roehr serves on the many boards listed above.
