Established in 1999, Human Development Foundation (HDF) Pakistan is one of the leading development sector non-profit organizations, registered under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 of the Government of Pakistan. The foundation has also been granted tax-exemption under section 2(36) of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and contributions to HDF are considered tax exempt. The Human Development Foundation North America (HDFNA) was organized by a group of visionary Pakistani expatriates in 1997, with it’s headquarters in Chicago, USA. HDFNA’s sister organization, HDF Pakistan was created to extend the movement to Pakistan and develop sustainable community development models, to transform lives through a holistic approach of integrated programs. HDF works with it’s partner communities to help them achieve the Millennium Development Goals. HDF has been certified by Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) and NGO Resource Center (NGORC) under their Institution Management and Certification Program (IMCP).
Working as a catalyst, HDF works with the communities, providing them with skills to manage their own affairs, and implement an integrated community development program which includes Community Mobilization and Social Capital Development, Literacy and Education, Health and Wellness, Economic Development and Sustainable Environment initiatives.
Presently, HDF is operating in ten districts in all four provinces of Pakistan and AJK including Mardan, Tando Muhammad Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Zhob, Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Attock, Bahawalpur and Muzaffarabad. The total number of beneficiaries in the foundation’s primary and secondary service areas exceeds 300,000.
