As a wiki editor, we all go through the Seven Ages of Wikipedians, myself included. During the Online Communities class, I began as a WikiInfant and eventually became a WikiYoungAdult. Intensive research and careful interrogations have been done to come up with such Wikipedia. The main points of reflection from the lectures I learned, I will be focused on my experience of being a newcomer in Wikipedia and how to manage newcomers on media platforms. Also, I will discuss the moderation at Wikipedia. Additionally, I will talk about the hard experience that I have gained in the process of trying to get more information about my Wikipedia sources. Finally, I will narrate to you about the relevant and useful skills that I have gained over time and how they have helped me to improve my communication skills using the Wikipedia platform as the source and the supplier too. I strongly feel that be ready to learn and get to acquire more information. Remember that no knowledge is a waste and information is the only potential power that can transform things if applied in the right manner.

Wikipedia like any other platform of communication provides too much freedom of expression and of doing almost anything one wishes to do within it. However, this too much freedom has its own setbacks to the entire media community. I perceive liberty as the most destructive force in the world just because it does more harm than it builds. For example each and every day of the week, the editors and content generators in Wikipedia are busy updating the information on the platform, they should actually be praised for that but due to too much freedom of mind you will get some other individuals commenting negations towards this focused in committed souls. From the experience that I have gained over time, it is clear and practical that a good percentage of editors who receive negative comments almost as soon as they have posted their content on the Wikipedia platform start to develop low self-esteem and if the trend continues some of them might end up quitting this job of editing articles.

Newcomers to the Wikipedia platform should be taught on how to harmonize and filter every post and comment before they throw it on the platform. Social media is all about the audience. I am delighted to learn how to write a Wikipedia article and I am glad that the comments I received were mostly positive. On the other hand, my mind will start to lose focus if each time I post some content, then all that I can receive from wiki editors are negative comments, this will begin to destroy my thinking faculty which will eventually decrease my interests with bad quality of works. Therefore, be polite and be welcome to newcomers are important in online communities. For example, during my Wikipedia experience, I always got encourages from my instructors, classmates and library researchers. Also, I got some good feedback from the wiki editor, such as Special: Permalink/868595821 Special: Diff/868595943 I believe that teach and coach those who are new to the platform for we sow is what we harvest. If everyone plants some seed of positive mindset in one online platform and water it then I believe that it will be assured of viable fruits in the future. This is how the newcomers should be handled and managed. I want to acknowledge and grateful that Wikipedia came up with the WikiLove. It is a very excellent tool that spread appreciation to someone because we all like to feel valued. This function is the powerful features to filter any feedback before giving it the go-ahead signal. It helps eliminate all possible energy drainers within the platform as they play no significant role within the Wikipedia platform. Criticism is allowed, but it must be filtered, it must have some positive motives in them otherwise they should never be given any chance. For example, I appreciate that editor Rosguill could give me those valuable suggestions.

Wikipedia is a community like any other community in our societies. The norms and cultures that are ethically accepted and practiced in the community, Wikipedia also has its own community norm. Consequently, good moderation must be emphasized in the platform. Moderation is important to Wikipedia field because it is a huge platform, sometimes it will produce abusive to each other. It shows that have reliable sources and neutral points are essential for Wiki. Also, moderation helps the platform using the right keywords at whatever place. I will prefer to settle in a strict environment that is well moderated by the concerned parties rather than be in a place where the next move cannot be pre-determined, such as Facebook. To the contrary, one may initiate a conversation which will grow slowly and produce victims just because there is no master to moderate what is being said in the platform. The rule of law must be applied in Wikipedia because it is the most natural law on earth and we cannot move forward by neglecting the natural norms. For the Wiki community to grow and move forward at a calculated pace, then it should be guided by certain principles.

I really enjoy to write the Wikipedia article, it helps me to improve my writing skills and communication skills. I have learned the importance of finding reliable sources and organizing information together. I am excited to receive the response from Mr. Chernoff. He tried to protect his mother's legacy so that we make a phone call to ensure we have an agreement on the wiki project. During the experience, I also faced some unexpected pitfall, such as I did not pass the notability guideline and the permission for the use of the photo. With the help from professor Joseph and library researcher Amanda. I don't know if I could earn what I have for this project today.They both encourage me and provide me with plenty of suggestions. For example, professor Reagle edits severals grammar issues for me Special: Permalink/868831570 Special: Diff/868831770 and also uploaded the photo on my Wiki page. I also made the meeting appointment with library researcher Amanda, she explained me the importance of third parties sources and taught me how to make progress on my sources. In conclusion, I think Wikipedia is an extreme site with beneficial information, and I recommend that we visit the site regularly so that we get to learn and acquire potential knowledge. Meanwhile, one thing that I want to point out is that for viewers who read wiki frequently, you have to carry a doubtful attitude on wiki’s credibility while you are taking advantage of Wiki. I am very grateful to the founder of this powerful and beneficial platform that is steadily and gradually dominating other platforms because of its compelling nature in content sharing.
