Janis Driver Treworgy
[edit]Janis Driver Treworgy was born February 6 1954 . She received her Bachelor of Science from Principia College in 1975. It was at Principia College that she first
met her future husband, Colin Treworgy. Her career focused mostly on the Illinois Basin until eventually in 2000 she decided to become a teacher at Principia College.

Career
[edit]Geological Career
[edit]Janis Driver Treworgy was the chair of the Department of Geology at Principia College as well as a member of the Illinois State Geological Survey
(ISGS)[2]. During Janis' extensive membership with the ISGS, she was a Palaeozoic stratigrapher and sedimentary geologist focusing her research on the the stratigraphy, depositional environments, and tectonic history of the Illinois Basin[2]. During the final three years at the ISGS, Janis made significant contributions to the Illinois State Board of Education by conducting workshops for teachers ranging from kindergarten to grade twelve. Additionally, Janis founded an independent elementary school in Illinois further contributing to the education system within the state[3]
Teaching Career
[edit]In 2000 she joined the staff at P. School and began teaching. In 2002 a mammoth tooth was accidentally unearthed and she headed a team to excavate the area finding more bones and helping student gain knowledge.
