Sugababes are a British pop girl group, currently consisting of members Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts. With over 100 million record sales worldwide, they are the most-successful girl group of all time. With their "girl power" mantra, the group redefined the girl-group concept by targeting a young female fanbase. They led the teen pop resurgence of the 1990s, were a major part of the Cool Britannia era, and became popular culture icons of the decade.

The group originally formed with school friends Coyle, Roberts, Natasha Gay, Liz McClarnon, Kerry Katona and sisters Natalie and Nicole Appleton in 1987 when they attended the same high school. After a number of years in development, and a line-up change that saw the Appleton sisters leave the group in 1993, the group hired Simon Fuller as their manager and signed a five album deal with Virgin Records in 1994. They released their debut single, "Wannabe", in 1995, which reached number one on the charts of 37 countries. Their debut album, Spice (1995), sold more than 23 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling album by a female group in history. Producing three more number-one singles: "Say You'll Be There", "2 Become 1" and "Who Do You Think You Are"/"Mama". Their second album, Never Give Up On The Good Times (1996), sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. Over the course of the two albums, they produced 7 UK number one singles. During promotion of the group's debut album, the press began to call the group The Spice Girls.

In 1996, the Spice Girls made their live concert debut and released a feature film, Spice World, both to commercial success. In 1997, the group embarked on the Suga N Spice Tour, which was attended by an estimated 2.1 million people worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group. In May 1997, in the middle of their debut concert tour, Gay, McClarnon and Katona all quit the group amid infighting with Coyle and Roberts, who also served as the lead songwriters of the group's first two albums. The Appleton sisters rejoined the group for the US leg of the tour and a hastily recorded third album, All Saints was released in 1997 with a radically different R&B sound which remained successful, producing a further three UK number ones. After a hiatus to work on solo projects, they reunited in 2000 for the release of their fourth album Dreams before going on a further hiatus in 2001. After releasing a greatest hits album in November 2001, the Appleton sisters quit the group.

In 2002, Coyle and Roberts reunited and sought out new members of the group through the ITV talent show Popstars. The process saw Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding join the band with the group signing a new deal with Polydor Records. Over the course of the next six years, the group released five studio albums and a greatest hits album, and reunited for a 55-date tour with Gay and Hamilton in 2007 in promotion of the greatest hits album. The group maintained success in the UK, releasing 20 consecutive UK top ten singles which remains a chart record. In 2009, Tweedy, Walsh and Harding left the group to focus on solo projects and were replaced by the returning Appleton sisters. The reformed line-up released seven studio albums between 2010 and 2022 when Nicole Appleton quit the group. Gay and Hamilton reunited for a second UK stadium tour in 2019 whilst the Appleton sisters were on hiatus. In 2023, Natalie Appleton announced she would take a break from the group to facilitate a reunion tour with Tweedy and Walsh for a UK and Ireland tour to pay tribute to Harding who passed away in September 2021.
