for gold across the dark continent of Africa. The intrinsic value associated with the ownership of the gold will inevitably increase the net worth of all associates critical to this mission. Historically, gold has abundantly been found in South Africa, Mali, Sudan and Ghana. The world is in a state of crisis, which prompted the World Gold Council to declare: ‘Investors have embraced gold in 2020 as a key portfolio hedging strategy.[…] the pandemic will likely have a lasting effect on asset allocation. It will also reinforce the value of gold as a strategic asset.’

A former UN researcher also claims: “You now have a supply chain in which gold is smuggled from Congo’s war zones in Ituri and South Kivu to regional refineries. After that it is flown to Dubai for refining, where it can be mixed with gold from other sources. Eventually, gold from a war zone in Congo could end up in a gold bullion bar in Switzerland.”

As previously mentioned, Sudan’s gold trade creates another opportunity for discovery. During President Omar al-Bashir’s regime, many miners were left dealing with faction enforcers or unscrupulous government officials. Lakshmi Kumar, with Washington DC based, Global Financial Integrity says: “There were deeply problematic deals between the Bashir regime and for example, Russian companies which had no background in mining. In one day alone, the Bashir government issued 50 licenses, without any due diligence process.” Since Bashir’s departure, Mohamed ‘Hemeti’ Hamadan Dagalo and his company, Al Gunade (Mining & Trading) has shown more than a casual interest in Sudan’s gold trade.

Hemeti, as a Brigadier General, has an estimated group 6,000 men, under his command, Janjaweed militia. Later, they were to be known as Rapid Support Forces, RCF. In 2017, RCF, under the leadership of Hemeti, took over 4 mines, including the Jebel Mara mine in Darfur. With the lucrative acquisitions, RCF purchased new weapons, including thousands of camouflaged artillery mounted pick up trucks.
