Kayla Bonnici[4][5] (born 22 January 1995), known professionally as Ivy Adara, is an Australian pop singer who became famous after competing on the eighth season of The X Factor Australia.
Personal life
[edit]Kayla Rae Bonnici was born on 22 January 1995 in Australia.[6] Her father, Mark Bonnici,[5] is a mortgage broker.[7] Her mother is Traci Bonnici.[8] Bonnici has a number of older and younger siblings.
In February 2018, Adara moved away from her hometown of Sydney[9] to Los Angeles.[10]
Career
[edit]Songwriting
[edit]Adara began writing songs at the age of 7.[3] In 2012, Adara, under the name Kayla Rae, wrote and recorded a song entitled "The Day" as a fundraiser for Compassion Australia.[1]
In 2014, Adara co-wrote "Let Go" and "Beautiful", two songs on Dami Im's third studio album Heart Beats.[3][11] Since then, she has co-written songs for a number of artists, including Jessica Mauboy, Maggie Lindemann, and The Him.
2016: Appearance on The X Factor
[edit]Adara competed on the 8th season of The X Factor Australia and was ultimately eliminated after being swapped out from a seat.
2017–present
[edit]Adara released her first single, "Famous," in November 2017.[3]
