Adam Heslop was born on 26 July 1988 born to parents Elaine and Neale. He grew up in Sunderland worshipping a religion known as the Mackems where he has attended services at his local church the S.O.L. Many Reverends have held sermons there such as Rev Reid, Rev Wilkinson, Rev McCarthy, but his favourite has been Rev Keane who has delivered some pulsating services that have some shocking twists right at the end. However now Rev Keane has left making Rev Sbragia the new man to take service. www.safc.com
Adam also has an affection for WWE making his love for The Rock, Triple H, Batista, and CM Punk greatly known. He one day claims that he will become world champion at Wrestlemania in a main event in front of millions and millions of people world wide. www.wwe.com
Adam has had a nine year football career where he has played for no less than nine clubs. Early in his career he was part of the Whitburn set up which he didnt feel was right for him so he made the move to rivals Redby. It was Michael Allan that made the move for Heslop thinking he would become a good squad member Heslop however was not content with a squad role. He spent a season there but after playing in the Red House six a side tournament and beating Fulwell who had the once mighty Stevey Mullin, he believed all he could achieve at Redby had been achieved so he set sail for Washington the team was Stella Maris. He spent a short time here but then decided enough was enough after struggling to force his way into the first team set up he called time on his stint here and the gloves were hung on the peg. In 2001 he made his way back into football signing for Town Castle Rovers. Adam had been a goalkeeper all his life but decided he would try an outfield role, this didnt work out for him. He returned to school in september 2002 hungry to claim the number one jersey for the school team, in a way he did this. Manager and relative Graham Stubbs reassured him constantly he was number one, but insisted on giving Graham Ross chance after chance. After some good early displays in the school team Adam was snapped up by Red House, manager Dave Morton made the swoop. This was a dream move for Adam going straight to the Premier League. His first season was good, he established himself as number one and made himself a favourite in the team. Them came the trip to Great Yarmouth where Red House were dubiously elminated in the semi-finals.
His second season was to be his last at Red House. He had put in many a good performance over the years most memorable against Washington away where he claimed man of the match and set the doubters straight. He had fell in love with the whole thing, the manager and he had a great relationship, he had played with some of the most fantastic players in Russell Foster league history such as Gary Ward, Andrew Gilbert, Jonathan Lewis, Deyl Bars, and Kyle Suminer. Adam doubted his decision to leave and his manager wanted him to stay but he decided the time was right to leave what he felt was his "spiritual home" and that his new adventure Fulwell Grange would be just as exciting.
Fulwell Grange was formed in 2004, Adam played as a Striker much to the dismay of manager and father Neale. Adam had a decent first season where he bagged 14 goals but only 7 were counted by the league, he had struck up a partnership with former Red House team mate Andrew Gilbert. After a good first season Fulwell Grange would then implode on themselves they finished bottom with six points and Heslop only managed one solitary goal. However 2006 became a massive year for Heslop the Fulwell Grange adventure ended as did his two year spell at the HMRC. He joined East Durham and Houghall college where he learned new skills thanks to Paul Baker, Steve Howey, Craig Shields, Ian Raine, and most recently Shaun Nicholson. In August 2006 Heslop was throwen a lifeline in football, Colin Wilson and Owen Haley signed him for Sunderland RCA on a Sunday morning. He was the youngest goalkeeper in the league. He would see himself come face to face with ex team mates like Gilbert and Suminer. Heslop found himself starting many games until the return of Barry Goodwin who he learnt invaluable experience off. He played alongside ex Sunderland player Keith Graydon who was possibly one of the most talented people hes played alongside. Like all good things it came to an end, due to a very thin playing squad Wilson and Haley called time on RCA leaving Heslop a free agent. His first season at college was to be a good base for the future, he improved constantly working his way into Brian Honours side that won the semi final of the NECL cup to reach the final against fierce rivals Gateshead. After a clash with Honour Heslop was left out of the side for the final. His second season at college would be a good one, he would see himself flourish for the college which earned him a spot in the squad that was sent to Newcastle UTD academy to play in a big friendly, in his team were several players of outstanding quality and there was also their over seas signing Kevin Wolff from Canada. It was performances against Sunderland college and Bishop Auckland and Tyne Met where he was watched closely by goalkeeper coach Craig Shields that earned him the call up. Shields was to become care-taker manager for the season after Brian Honour quit, Heslop relished this and he felt he owed Shields for everything he had done for him so he upped his game and earned the captaincy for a spell, which was later taken up by good friend Andrew Gilbert. Heslop earned the title Mr Consistent for his solid performances over the season. This earned him a big transfer to Easington C.I.U. from the Hastings Hill. He reached two quarter finals with Easington and one cup final. Heslop plays with ex Middlesbrough players such as Paul Stephenson and the once highly rated Tommy Orchard. Both had immense reputations but for some reason they werent given the deals they felt they deserved.
During the summer of 2008 Adam was sold. Easington C.I.U. decided to cash in due to the credit crunch, so previous mentor Barry Goodwin the now manager of The Colonel Prior swooped to purchase him for a tidy fee. He believed it was a step forward to the big leagues. After two years away from the Premiership he worked hard and played in a big league with Easington but when he felt his time was up he asked Craig Shields to broker a move, and what a move he got. It had been three days and the phone rang Shields had got him a chance and when Adam heard it was the Colonel Prior and the chance to work with Barry Goodwin again he wasnt going anywhere else and he wasnt going to let anyone down. He signed and had this to say to the press "I feel that i have made a move which could become home. One that could fill the void left by Red House. Im back in the big time, i have so many people who have put faith in me and now i believe i cant and wont let them down. Barry is a good man and a fantastic goalkeeper, he has a good team here and i would just love to have the chance to better myself and get in the team. Im still learning, and to learn from someone like Barry is a massive opportunity, and i thank him for that."
Adam believes his next two years at college are massive ones, and that he has big hopes for Easington, having under achieved for his school team and with Red House he feels this is the one where big things happen. He had this to say recently "I owe alot to Bakes, Steve, Ian Raine, Shaun, and more so Shieldsy, and i hope that bringing some silver wear to the EDHCC trophy cabinet will in some way start to repay them, i owe them alot and for this i am eternally gratefull."
Heslop is now nearly at the climax of his third season with Team East Durham. He has had fairly solid season personally but on a team level it hasnt been the best of seasons. He has took some of the new academy players under his wing such as Mark Robinson, Graeme Pickering, and Liam Dunn. Unfortunately Dunn left the college much to Heslops disappointment.
At the end of the 2008/09 season Adam suffered heartbreak, and joy. The league season with the Colonel Prior suffered relatively strongly, however the cup was where it was at for Heslop. They reached the semi final of the league cup where they played Farringdon club from the first division. Colonel Prior lost this game 7-6 on penalties, Heslop was said to be distraught after the game and was struggling to keep his spirits up. The Tuesday following though did lift Heslops' spirits when Horden C.W. Under 21's were crowned league champions. Heslop had signed for Horden in the March of 2009 to ease their goalkeeper problems for the upcoming mid-week games they had. Heslop was quoted saying "Ten years in the Russell Foster league and i have craved for this moment, i feel incredibly happy to be a league champion, and its in typical fashion that i do it in my last ever season in the league, and with an incredible group of players and friends."
In the October of 2009 Adam was approached by long time mentor Craig Shields to join the Boldon Sleepers. Heslop gladly accepted and thought this could be the start of great experience, it didnt turn out that way. The team struggled to hold a settled squad over the season and Heslop grew incredibly frustrated. By the end of the season Heslop brought in Andrew Riddle and Liam Grant to play for the sleepers, however this couldnt stop the rot. On the final day of the season Boldon were relegated, Heslop was absent for the final game due to playing on The Stadium of Light, however he was deeply upset at the relegation because of the fact the Sleepers were playing the bottom club in the league. Heslop has now acquired several signings for the forthcoming season and expects to win the league without any problems.
On June 22nd 2010 at 1:30pm Adam Heslop left East Durham College. Heslop enjoyed many great times at the institute and made some amazing connections that he will never forget. He leaves with a heavy heart.
