'Heraldwolf aka herald-wolves / heraldwolves is an experienced amateur genealogist. He has online family trees on several sites. He is also a former member of yahoo genealogical groups about Normandy, Alsace, Lorraine. Thus, he was the founder and moderator of the French-speaking former yahoo group ellis-island, which aims to offer help to people looking for a North West European ancestor who moved for the USA. In the past, Heraldwolf was member of several genealogical circles, e.g. in the Westhoek (French and Belgian maritime Flanders)... He began genealogy on a friendly challenge from one of his university professor ( medieval palaeography ), Mr Bienvenu, who invited students to "search ans investigate their own genealogy" to acquire culture and the notions of inquiry and investigation. In the 1980s, during 5 years, he intensely searched, before seeing his research stagnate. In the early 2000s, he seized the digital boom, and has since surfed on many serious genealogical sites. Heraldwolf is Norman, native French speaker and has ancestry in Normandy, Lorraine, Alsace, Flanders and Picardy. In 2011, he gave a new direction to his researches, and took advantage of recent scientific progress in human biology and genetics, and took part in several genetic genealogy projects using DNA in the context of paleogenealogy.
He is genetically of mixed Celtic (40-50%), West Germanic (40-50%), and Scandinavian (5-10%) descent.
