Tarique Mustafa is an American of Pakistani origin. He was born in Karachi, Pakistan on August 6, 1963. Tarique is a Silicon Valley technologist and hi-tech entrepreneur. He is currently the founder and CEO of nexTier Networks, Inc. [1], a Silicon Valley data security company that has developed the new generation of Semantic analysis based software solution for Data Leak Prevention. On the one hand, he is also the inventor of 2 patents which are high accuracy document information-element vector encoding server patent that is about verifying one or more information elements in the document sent through network, and System And Method For Deprioritizing And Presenting Data for detecting signature match. Moreover, Tarique was an invited guest speaker of several Data Leak Prevention conferences.

Tarique Mustafa was a student of NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, Pakistan where he received the Award of Dean’s Gold Medal on graduation with B.E. Mechanical Engineering in 1987. One year later, in 1988, Tarique came to the United States on a Rotary International Scholarship to attend University of Southern California (USC) for graduate education in Engineering and Computer Science. At USC (1988-1994), Tarique Mustafa received his Master of Engineering and completed a coursework requirement of PhD focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Database. While attending the University of Southern California, he was, one more time, received a research scholar at Department of Computer Science, Industrial & Systems Engineering and Applied Mathematics. Along with receiving a scholar, he is also teaching and research assistant at Department of Computer Science, Industrial & Systems Engineering and Applied Mathematics (1989-1994).

Career

In August 1994, he started his professional career with Symantec Corporation in Silicon Valley, California. At Symantec Corporation, Tarique Mustafa has held some important technical positions such as Principal Software Engineer and Architecture. In May 1997, he joined DHL Airways IT as a Senior Architect, Software System and Infrastructure. After that, he also held a key technical position at some technical companies such as Senior Software Systems Architecture at MCI WorldCom in 1999, founder, CTO, Vice President at Network Utilities, Inc., and CTO & Board Member at Andes Networks [2]. In 2005, he joined another Network Security Company named Nevis Network [3]. With those valuable experiences at many different Computer Security Companies, Tarique Mustafa founded nexTier Networks, Inc.[4] in June 2006 as a data Security Company that provides the Data Leak Prevention solution.
