The Mac transition to PowerPC processors was the process of changing the central processing unit (CPU) of Apple Inc.'s line of Mac computers from Motorola 68000 to PowerPC processors.
The first Mac model to use a PowerPC processor were the Power Macintosh 6100, Power Macintosh 7100, and Power Macintosh 8100, released in March 1994 (approximately ten years after the release of the original Macintosh).[1]
