Since 2008, I am a professor emeritus in land registration, more specifically land law and cadastral development.
My Wikiversity interests
[edit]I am fascinated by the potential of web technology, and would like to learn more and contribute to have the potential implemented world-wide.
In 2011, colleague Volkan Cagdas and I developed the Cadastre and Land Administration Thesaurus (CaLAThe), which visualize term relationships by means of Graphviz and DOT.
In 2007, I tentatively used Moodle in the context of the course Maa-20.3375 International Land Management, lectured at the Helsinki University of Technology (links gone).
During 2001-06, I set up and maintained the website of a European research project: Modelling Real Property Transactions
During 1990-96, I presented some research on 'computer based learning', e.g. Roads to Cities, to Geographic Information Systems, and to Knowledge (CBLIS ´93). The paper reports on a mini-course I prepared for MSc. surveying students, showing aspects of graph theory by means of the Prolog software language. The didactic idea was to use the technology to visualize values generated by an algorithm (shortest path) and thus to enhance the learning process.
I am familiar with (x)html, css, and somehow with svg, and has initial knowledge of PHP and MySql. I would like to use the wiki-technology actively.
