Hayk Ghazaryan and Lilit Makaryan have founderd Armenian Family Tree Project in 2007. Each of them after exploring their roots and researching their family trees decided to create a web-based system which will be helpful and available to each Armenian for discovering and preserving their family history.
The main three directions of Armenia Family Tree Project are: genealogical research, online family tree building and family tree design.
Genealogical research
[edit]People with Armenian heritage can find their ancestors, origins and their family history with the help of professional genealogy researchers. A genealogical research is defined as a result of comprehensive matched information from all the available sources with the quotations from the original documentation.
Online family tree building
[edit]There is an opportunity of building and sharing online family trees for free. Members of the online family community have the options to combine their ancestral data in one structured place, invite other members of the family to join the tree and collaborate in its development, analyze family tree matches and merge several intersected trees.
Family tree design
[edit]Family tree design is the solution which people choose to preserve the result of their long lasting excavations. A user can create a family tree or crest engraved on a wood, a big clay plate, made as a hand drawn peace of art. Have it drawn in an Armenian old manuscript book style, embroidered on a carpet, printed on a big poster to hang on a wall, etc.
