User:Harmil/Mayo Cleanup Project

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mayo Cleanup Project is an effort to preserve some of the more useful links This project was a misguided effort on my part to preserve spam injected by a rather abusive user at 129.176.151.6. There is now no ongoing effort....

The Doubleclick connection

[edit]

It took a while for me to notice that each of the linked database pages had a doubleclick link to a sponsor. While I support any site's right to get their own sponsorship however they like, I won't be a part of a link-spam operation that abuses another site, run from the same organization that hosts the database (and thus reaps the "rewards"). Damn.

Criteria for keeping

[edit]

Since reversions were made in good faith, it would be wrong of me to just re-revert all of them (not to mention counter-productive in many cases). Thus, I will use the following criteria:

  1. The article in question must be a stub or contain fairly little data.
  2. The linked article on the Mayo site must contain more information than the WP article
  3. The link must be accurate (correct disease or condition is linked)

The great TODO list
