Vaddanam is one of the heaviest ornaments worn by a bride.Vaddanam is an ornament worn around waist typically in the south Indian territory. Vaddanam traditionally is worn during festival days and major family occasions like marriages where it is shown as a status symbol in south Indian marriages. A south Indian marriage is rarely seen with out a vaddanam on the bride's waist.
