Shark Night 3D is an upcoming 2011 American 3D independent horror film directed by David R. Ellis and starring Sara Paxton, Alyssa Diaz, Dustin Milligan, Chris Carmack and American Idol alum Katharine McPhee in the lead roles. The films deals with a group of friends whose weekend vacation at a lake house turns for the worst when it turns out the lake is infested with sharks.
Along with Dark Tide, Shark Night 3D marks the return of the theatrical shark monster movie, 12 years after Deep Blue Sea. In the meantime, the sub-genre had been restricted to direct-to-video and TV efforts. The film has been shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana since September 2010 and is expected to release sometime in 2011.
