Comprehensive Assessment of Articles (2/21)
[edit]Forestry in Russia
[edit]1. This article would interest anyone who wants to know more about Russia's economy in general and a large portion of their enterprise. They go to this article for general information, other related articles, sources and more detailed information, or a starting point for learning about Russian business. Since this topic is very niché, someone reading this article is likely to have some prior interest or information regarding the topic. I think at this point, the article does a sufficient job offering quality information, but lacks organization and clarity. Some of the sections are not even written in a coherent manner, which add some confusing elements.
2. The article is written by many different editors, but each editor seems to come in and a little bit of content before moving on to something else. No single editor is very consistent.
3. The tagged issues are that the lead section is too long for the article, and that the article needs copyediting help and cleanup. The talk page is relatively dormant. Not very many people have interacted with this article at all. The article hasn't been edited in a long time.
4. The article may need significant help before it becomes a good article because it isn't structured very well, some of the sections need serious revision, and there isn't much information on the topic as it currently stand. Things that I would like to do to change the article are: improve the article by copyediting to enhance readability, reorganize the article to condense the introductory paragraph, and add greater clarification to the "Problems of forest industry" section, since it contains many sentence fragments.
Sharon Springs, New York
[edit]1. Anybody interested in New York geography, cities, or towns may be interested in the article. Likewise, residents of the town or those interested in the history of the area may be interested in reading the article. For those that are already familiar with the town, the article may seem oriented too much towards tourists and visitors. However, there is a lot of useful information in the history section of the article and elsewhere. Those reading the article are likely to know very little or nothing about the topic at all, unless they are residents or familiar with the area for some other reason. Readers are likely coming to the article for history, places of significance, or general information about the town. I think the article does a decent job offering information about the town, but the wording and phrasing of the information does not always fit Wikipedia's encyclopedic standard.
2. Many of the edits are done by various groups of people, either off and on or in short bursts where they add new sections and information. The article has been edited monthly by different people all the way until December of 2020. Hopefully I will be able to engage with editors on some level.
3. The tags for this article suggest the article needs help with verification and adjusting the text to fit an encyclopedic tone instead of that oriented towards tourists. The talk page has not had much interaction lately. I think the article has been formulated well and just needs some minor adjustments to make it better.
4. Issues I would like to help are: general copyediting of the article to improve readability, fixing any minor issues that go against WP:PROMO or WP:NPOV, and considering how to condense or reorganize the "History" and "Sharon Springs rebirth" sections.
Three good articles for reference (2/15)

[edit]Five articles for consideration (2/11)
[edit]Potential articles
[edit]- Fashion week - there is a long history for this article, dating back to 2004 and 2006. The original edits were the opening, or introductory, section, and talk generally about the basic information about Fashion Week.
- Pumpkin pie - this article goes back to 2003. A lot of the editing history involves people coming in, deleting the whole article, and leaving spam semi-frequently. This is a little discouraging but these edits were a long time ago. The initial edits were for a description of pumpkin pie and a recipe.
- Forestry in Russia - this article could use a lot of copyediting and organization help. I think it would be an excellent article to work on and edit.
- Busan
- Japan-South Korea relations
- Japanese cuisine
- China-Japan relations
Reasons why two articles need improvement (2/10)
[edit]- As a whole, this article is really wordy, has excessive punctuation, and contains no clear or general focus to it.
- There are almost no citations, which makes me questions how much of it could be considered "Original Research."
- As a whole, the article is lacking a lot of useful content. The "History" and "Tools and techniques" sections are the only one's that have a significant amount of information at all.
- Some of the last comments in the talk page are from 2012, 2009, and 2007. Many of the comments are left unanswered. It seems there is little management over this article.
- This article has a lot of issues, mostly regarding how the information is presented and the fact that it isn't very organized at all.
- Both sections under "Natural" examples of birdseed seem to be cramming a lot of information in without any strategy.
- The headings are okay, but not as helpful as they could be. The article could use an overhaul from someone more knowledgeable about the subject.
- The talk page for this article is understandably very small, as there are only three entries, and they were written a very long time ago.
- The page is listed as being in a start-class
