Activity 1: Add one or more categories to an image at Wikimedia Commons. Look at commons:Category:Unidentified or its subcategories or similar commons:Category:Files needing categories or its subcategories . Categories are like tags and describe what is on the image. For example of well categorized images, look at examples of images listed here. For example, consider the categories at File:Ratargul-02.jpg .
Hint: when adding a category, consider what is the best (most detailed) subcatetegory. For example, instead of "Category:Children" you should probably add categories like "Category:7 children" and Category:Children in South Korea". Instead of "Category:Beijing" you should add a category for the specific building or area. Instead of "Category:Food", you should add a category for specific food like "Category:Gimjang". Of course, if you cannot identify things, then adding more general categories is ok - if you do not know what kind of food it is, then "Category:Food" is ok. But maybe you can be more specific - is it a soup? Then you can use "Category:Soups".
Activity 2 Create a new category for images at Wikimedia Commons. Add a new category to an image. If it is red, it means it does not exist. Then call me and I’ll help you create it. But many categories exist already – first check if your new category is not just a duplicate of an existing category!
An easy way to create a category is to look at a similar one and copy the parent categories, then change them to be relevant. For example, commons:Category:Flowers in FooFooTown does not exist, but there is a category for commons:Category:Flowers in Beijing. Is there a category for flowers in your hometown or another city you like? If not, create one modelling it on Beijing. But it cannot be empty - you need to find (or upload) a picure of flowers in that city to tag them first.
Activity 3 Add one or more categories to articles (not templates) found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:All_uncategorized_pages Ignore templates - look for articles.
Activity 4: Create a new category at Wikipedia.
Activity 5: Categories can be deleted, renamed or merged. Take a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion and see if you can leave a comment at a discussion of your choice.
