The user, HamishMc, derives from the name of the beloved cat which lived in the university town of St Andrews, Scotland. Hamish McHamish (1999-2014)[1] was a well-known figure in St Andrews who garnered daily attention not only from the thousands[2] of students who passed him by on a daily basis, but also from his pictorial biography, Hamish McHamish of St Andrews: Cool Cat About Town, authored by Susan McMullen.[3] Although Hamish passed away in September 2014, his memory lives on through a bronze statue of him sculpted by David Annand[4] and positioned in Church Square in St Andrews.
