Queensland Geothermal Energy Centre of Excellence

The Queensland Geothermal Energy Centre of Excellence is a research centre associated with The University of Queensland. It was established in September 2007 by a $15 million grant from the Queensland State Government^[1] to do research on geothermal power technologies.

While the main focus of the Centre is developing new geothermal plant technologies, it is also supporting PhD students who are investigating high heat producing granites and exploring EGS resources in Queensland.

The Centre has recently signed an agreement with the US turbine manufacturer Verdicorp ^[2]
